ABOUT OLD HOUSE
Located in the heart of the Fens, we offer several beautiful and unique accommodations. Ideal for parties of various sizes. Two of these – The Old Chapel House and The Lodge Apartments – are situated in a pretty courtyard with private parking.
Nestled in the peaceful countryside overlooking acres of farmland, the Old Chapel House is surrounded by wildlife such as deer that roam onto the estate grounds.
The landscape, which once used to be flooded, is famous for its flat, open lands, dykes and wetlands. This lends itself to stunning skylines and magnificent sunsets.
The estate consists of three unique venues which are available as a whole package or individually to suit your needs and requirements – whether you are looking for a wedding venue or any form of celebration, or just a weekend or short-term break.
The Old Chapel House is a beautiful Georgian-style house which comes with its own cellar. The house is built on the site of an old chapel which dates back approximately to the 13th or 14th century. This accommodation has been updated throughout but still remains sympathetic to the history of the house.
THE ACCOMMODATION CONSISTS OF:
- A two-storey, two staircase house with its own cellar.
- One of the staircases leads upstairs to a private master bedroom.
On the ground floor, one enters the property via a large entrance hall that has an additional cloakroom (W.C) and a utility room, fully functional with a washing machine and tumble drier, at your disposal.
There is a very spacious kitchen and dining area which is fully equipped for parties of all sizes. Included in the kitchen is a dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer and two ovens, one of which is an industrial-sized cooker ideal for large parties.
The dining room has a cellar entrance leading to a staircase, which has an extensive cellar. Large French doors open out to a private outdoor seating area and patio. BBQ facilities are also available. This area overlooks a beautiful lake. If it is too cold or the weather is poor, a lounge/sitting room with a TV leads off from the dining area. This is a beautiful room and a quiet area of the house, perfect for just chilling out and watching your favourite programmes. The downstairs hallway houses the main staircase leading to the first floor. Prior to this, the first bedroom is also off this hallway. This is an excellent and versatile room as it can be tailored to your needs. For example, it is large enough to act as a family room or just a very large double room. FIRST FLOOR
As previously mentioned, the private staircase leads to a master bedroom with its own ensuite. A seven foot by seven foot four-poster bed, specifically designed for this room, is the focal point. This pretty and luxurious room has built-in wardrobes, a dressing table and an amazing ensuite with a walk-in shower, bath, sink, toilet and bidet. Adjacent, across the landing, is ‘The Mirror Room.’ This large and luxurious bedroom also has a four-poster bed and built-in wardrobes with beautiful mirrors.
Two further bedrooms are available on this floor, one being a large double-sized room and the other being a large family-sized room with a sofa bed. Flexibility is available on request for these two bedrooms in regards to sleeping arrangements. The family bathroom has a large jacuzzi (1.8m x 1.2m), a toilet, sink, bidet and a shower cubicle.
THE OUTSIDE AND GARDEN AREA
The courtyard offers private parking, and through the large gated area is a very large grassed garden and lake – exclusively for the use of our clients. This area is available for a multitude of functions. During the summer months, we have hosted wedding parties that have utilised this area for wedding blessings under our pergola. The backdrop is beautiful, with the lake and The Old Chapel House surrounding it. The pergola was handmade, and designed with steps leading up to a beautiful and romantic structure – ideal for such occasions.
This area can be decorated to suit your personal needs to enhance your special day. Enclosed in this area are what we call the ‘football pitch’ facilities. This area is ideal for parties of children or adults to let off some steam. A heated hot tub is available during summer months in a covered area, providing a cozy and relaxing spot. Nearby, the patio and courtyard area feature tables and chairs for outdoor dining, along with a newly built BBQ and pizza oven area, perfect for entertaining family and friends. Comfortable seating surrounds a central fire pit, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for evenings together.
THE GARDEN ROOM
Leading on from this garden area, there is a maximum of a five-minute walk to get to The Garden Room. Car parking is available, and it takes just two minutes to drive from the courtyard area to the car park, before a short walk through the grounds of this spectacular venue. Bespoke brick pillars and a unique archway run adjacent to the entrance of the venue. A grassed area is located nearby, ideal for a congregation to sit on chairs and be a part of your special day. The Old Chapel Farm Venue is now licensed for civil married indoors and outdoors.
THE OUTSIDE & GARDENS
Along with a lovely patio area, the house is surrounded by beautiful gardens. You will find a ‘Monet’-style bridge over a pond, which is exclusively for the use of our clients staying at The Old Chapel House. During the summer months, there is the possibility of an exclusive, open air swimming pool with facilities available. If more accommodation is required, just across from the courtyard we have The Lodge Apartments available, which sleep up to 14 occupants. Also available is the Garden Room, which is a function room for 120 guests.
THE LODGE
Situated in a pretty little courtyard with private parking facilities, The Lodge Apartments are opposite The Old Chapel House. This unique area offers accommodation for up to 16 people. It consists of five bedrooms, all of which are accessed via the courtyard, which on ground level offers exclusive and private use. Each apartment has underfloor heating and electric heaters for your comfort.
